Uptick in PKK attacks in southeastern Turkey



After several months of relative inactivity, and as Turkish forces launched multiple counter-insurgency operations, there's been a significant uptick in PKK attacks in southeastern Turkey. Most of these attacks have been carried out along the border with Iraq, as outlets tied to the PKK claim Turkey is carrying out cross-border attacks against the group's positions in northern Iraq. Indeed, there's been an uptick in Turkish activity along the border while Ankara's frustration with the expansion of the PKK to the Sinjar area in Iraq is well known.
